Tuesday 10th September
Groups are invited to book their place at event which promises speed networking, practical training sessions and discussions about the opportunities and challenges for community businesses.
The networking event is scheduled for Tuesday 10th September at Dillington House, Ilminster in Somerset and is being offered free of charge for Plunkett members and £29 for non-members on a first come, first serve basis.
The programme, announced today, has been designed in response to a survey of community business groups supported by Plunkett which sought views on what they would like to get out of the event. It is hoped the event will appeal to groups working on all kinds of community owned and run enterprises; whether they have been trading for years or just beginning. As well as having the opportunity to network with other groups, delegates will be challenged to think about what makes a good rural community business by discussing examples of best practice and the relevance of broader national developments and debates.
Highlights include workshops on fundraising, managing volunteers and staff, promoting health and wellbeing, and boosting the local economy as well as optional ‘speed networking’ sessions where Plunkett staff will attempt to match-make groups working on similar projects.
James Alcock, Plunkett’s Executive Director said, “Thanks to feedback from our members, we’ve put together an ambitious programme for the benefit of anyone involved in a rural community business. We’re confident the mix of sessions will make for an enjoyable day, allowing people to make new contacts, learn practical skills for making their business a success and be inspired to try new things which benefit their community”.
The full programme and a link to the booking form can be accessed from Plunkett’s website. Groups are advised to book places early to avoid disappointment.
