May I start with a reciprocal thank you: firstly to everyone for being sensible with purchases, observing the new two metre ‘social spacing’ rules and for taking advantage of the shop in the village. Secondly, a big thank you to those helping me on telephones, packing orders and delivering. The ordering system is working well. This village must be the envy of many in the way everyone is behaving and the systems swiftly put in place by Bill and the volunteers, just fab!
In addition to the usual stock items, I have now added some veg; I have more potatoes than I know what to do with, plus carrots, broccoli and a huge bag of flour. I have also trebled the usual dairy order, which is now in stock, and I have a few…just a few…anti-bacterial hand wash soaps!
With the help of Stuart Lowen butchers, cooked meals from Claire Lynch and John & Jane at the hotel, the village will be well fed for as long as needed and there is no reason to leave the house other than the daily permitted exercise. Our intention is to avoid any unnecessary treks to Minehead. If we are to protect ourselves here in Wootton Courtenay, then please do use these services; all of us will deliver. In fact, it has been quite refreshing pressing a doorbell and running away – just like being a ten-year-old again!
Please keep safe.
