National Youth Orchestra ‘Ode to Joy’

Friday 17th April at 5.00pm

The National Youth Orchestra (nyo.org.uk) are inviting people across the country to join their socially distanced orchestra by playing Beethoven’s ‘Ode to Joy’ on their doorsteps, dedicated to those who need a musical pick-up, including NHS staff, key workers and the socially isolated.  At 5pm today, NYO’s musicians will throw open their windows, go out on to their doorsteps and share their own 40 second performance of this well-known piece.  Some of us will be on our doorsteps and playing our instruments!

Villagers might like to do the same.  The NYO website wants everybody to join in, and they have published the music on their website for people who play at all levels.  They would also like performances captured and shared digitally.  Details, again, on their website.

Let’s make music together, socially distanced.
