Well done, Wootton Courtenay. A WW2 book of memories, decorated houses, a fitting toast, costumes, afternoon teas, fizz, socially distanced dancing and chatting, a real community atmosphere and, to cap it all, glorious weather and a meteorite! Wow! It may not have been quite what we had planned but the next best thing in the circumstances and it would seem that we had a lovely time.
Many thanks to all for supporting this national commemoration and celebration, and special thanks to the Art Group, and the Oral History Group for sponsoring of our book of memories.
We are hoping to mark VJ Day on August 15th if we can, and maybe by then we’ll be able to resurrect some of the events/activities we have had to postpone this month. We’ll have to see, as my old Dad used to say!
