Pictured is a MacBook Pro 15″ laptop. It is a mid-2009 model and has been upgraded with a solid-state 480GB drive, meaning it boots quickly even by modern standards. It has 8GB of RAM, a 2.6GHz processor, OS X Yosemite installed plus a bonus of Microsoft Office 2008 with Excel, Word and Powerpoint. The screen is 1440×900 pixels, the LCD panel is still in good condition and I’ve sanitised the machine.
The machine has Apple’s equivalent of Office including Pages, Numbers and Keynote, and you can install Chrome, Firefox or any other browser in addition to Safari. Despite it’s age you can still install the latest software and use the latest web browsers for online access. The machine has a DVD drive for watching movies too.
On the left are ports for:
- 2 USBs
- An SD card reader
- Battery test button
On the right is the DVD player and a Kensington security connector hole.
The unit comes with the usual Mac charger, and is available to view and test. The full Apple specifications are on their website over here. The target price is £250 and comes with full support from me to get you going.
This would make a good computer for email, web browsing, editing documents and spreadsheets and general use. Due to its age, the machine will no longer receive updates to the OS or for security reasons – even so OS X Yosemite and the Mac in general is a safe machine to use, better than most Windows based machines (in my opinion!).
