Our village Flower Show is effectively a huge group effort, and every year the village seems to create something which is bigger than the sum of its parts. It really is a community achievement.
The wheels start turning behind the scenes months in advance, with the Show committee discussing ideas and sharing out tasks and responsibilities. I’d like to thank Ingrid Popplewell for her measured, open and democratic leadership of the committee, and for all the work she has put into this year’s Show. I’d also like to add that Roz Griffin takes on a Herculean admin task every year as Show Secretary, and the committee and the Gardening Club are very grateful to her for all the time and effort she devotes to the event.
The proceeds from the Show allow the Gardening Club to host a series of speakers from September to June each year and make an annual donation to a local horticultural project, which is currently Good Vibe Veg at Horner Farm. Guest members are welcome at our meetings.
I have compiled five sections of photographs from the event. To view the galleries webpage, click here.
