Hope you are all coping with the extreme heat! Unsurprisingly, Styles ice creams have been selling well and I shall be ordering more today. Mark will be making delicious Affogato (Italian ice cream coffee) and iced coffees as a perfect alternative to a hot drink in this weather.
Sales have been slow this week on the fresh produce, quiches, sausages, etc. I’m guessing in this heat no one has much of an appetite, or it’s just too hot to move much and make it up to the shop. Even too hot for a BBQ maybe.
Consequently, I may have to put quiches and sausages in the freezer, and potentially the bread on Saturday (again). If you can help us out with some of the fresh produce that would be marvellous. The only other option is for me to cut back on the produce orders, risking disappointment.
Also, I’m wondering if villagers would like to restart the surplus fruit and veg scheme again this year, where you bring your excess home-grown produce to the shop and we sell it by donation in aid of Cancer Research? Happy to do so, if growers have more than they can cope with – pop in and let me know!
Stay cool!
