Villagers who knew my brother Derek will be saddened to hear that he passed away in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Unconnected to Derek’s death, during an afternoon of hay baling this week, the grass burst into flames because of the intense heat. Some people in the village, seeing the smoke, may have wondered what was happening. I cannot express enough gratitude to Chris Sulley, Ian Stephens and Bruce Dascombe, who came to our rescue, and also to Minehead Fire Brigade who rushed out to Burrow Farm to put out the fires.
