Thank you to everyone who contributed to our wonderful village Flower and Produce Show yesterday. It was a great celebration of life in Wootton Courtenay, displaying the talent and generosity of the villagers.
There was an impressive display of vegetables, fruit and flowers, despite the challenges of increasing temperatures and drought. The cookery and preserves were of a high standard, testing Simon’s judging skills. Roz’s fabulous quilt topped the needlecraft section and thoroughly deserved the accolade of ‘Best in Show’.
There was a really good number of diverse entries for the Photography Exhibition. The People’s Choice was an image of iconic stand of Exmoor beech trees by Greta Gardner.
Thank you again to everyone who helped to make it such a special day, and a special thank you to Linda and her team – Carrie, Jo, Annie and Nic – for all their hard work producing the fabulous teas, which are always a highlight of the afternoon.
A gallery of photos taken at the show will be put together in the next few days and a link sent out via the village email.
Hopefully you feel inspired to further heights next year…or to enter for the first time!
A bit of healthy rivalry is good fun, but for me it is all about taking part and making the day another collaborative village success.
