With the persistent hot weather and my rain gauge only recording 2mm in the last two months, the risk of wildfires on the moor has reached a critical point. There are seven houses close to the moor in the Brockwell/Ford area of Wootton Courtenay. Two of us have thatched roofs.
I want to ask everyone to be alert to the dangers of doing anything which may start a fire when up on the moor.

Please be aware there is a vehicle parked up on Robin How, and after we reported it on Tuesday we received this reply from Exmoor National Park, who have asked us to spread the word:
”Yes, there is a vehicle that went illegal off-roading last weekend. The police have been informed and the individual is having to organise collection, but there is a fire risk to removal so it will not necessarily happen immediately.”
