On Friday, November 9th at 7.30pm in All Saints’ church, as part of the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the First World War, Bishop Brian Castle will be giving a lecture entitled:
At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them – Remembering Through the Lens of Reconciliation.
The lecture reminds us that the way we remember the past affects the present and shapes the future. It then explores ways that the First World War, and other conflicts, are remembered and asks how far their remembrance encourages reconciliation between former enemies.
Brian Castle, former Bishop of Tonbridge and author of two books on reconciliation, is an assistant bishop in the diocese of Bath and Wells. This is a unique opportunity to hear this thought-provoking and apposite lecture in our own parish church.
Please join us for drinks and nibbles after the lecture. The retiring collection will be in aid of ‘Help for Heroes’.
