Hi to all you village photographers!
You produced a great exhibition at the village Flower & Produce Show this year. To give you all a bit more time to prepare for next year’s show, we are announcing the Photography Section categories now, along with some ideas…but let your imaginations loose!
All photographs must be taken after the date of the last show, i.e. since 4th August 2026.
1st Category: Portraits
- These should be of a person, or perhaps a group of people if there is an obvious connection between them (not your favourite pets!).
- The focus should clearly be on a person or people as the main subject.
- It can be a close-up of their face or the entire figure.
- It could show them in their environment.
- Try to capture their unique personality or mood.
- Try to tell a story with your picture.
2nd Category: Wildflowers
- This could be a picture of a single flower or a group of flowers.
- It might depict flowers in their natural environment – for instance a meadow, woodland, coastline, or in your garden.
- It could be just part of the flower, but should still be recognisable as such (i.e. not completely abstract).
3rd Category: Night Time
- This category could include urban settings with street lights, car light trails or rainy pavement reflections.
- Rural landscapes can be beautiful in the hour after sunset, and this can also be a good time for silhouettes.
So start thinking and practising – ‘the more you practise, the luckier you get’ – you might just find that prize-winning shot!
