I received the following email from Jackie Cassidy on behalf of the West Somerset Food Cupboard, and I felt it should be shared with everyone, not only Gardening Club members, as so many non-members donated vegetables after the Flower & Produce Show. I found it heartwarming to receive a message like this, and I hope you all feel the same when you read it.

On behalf of West Somerset Food Cupboard, I would like to express our sincere thanks to Wootton Courtenay Gardening Club for your generous donation of £65, raised from the sale of surplus produce at this year’s Flower and Produce Show.
We’re aware of the wonderful work the Club does in the village, from your talks and garden visits to your ongoing support for Good Vibe Veg’s school gardening programme with Porlock School. It’s clear that the Gardening Club has a real commitment to putting the proceeds of the produce show to good use in the community, and we’re honoured that you thought of us as part of that.
Donations like this make a genuine difference to local families who need support, and we’re very grateful to everyone who grew, harvested and sold produce to make it possible.
